How it works

  1. ZIP inputs — accepts 5‑digit or ZIP+4 (we use the first 5 digits).
  2. Service class — uses typical USPS business‑day ranges per class.
  3. Start date — if you drop after your cutoff or on a non‑business day, we start the next business day.
  4. Business days — weekends and US federal holidays are skipped; optionally include Saturdays.
  5. Heuristics — adds modest buffers for national routes and AK/HI/PR.

  • USPS Ground Advantage: 2–5

FAQ

Is this an official USPS calculator?

No. Daydelta is independent and provides estimates based on typical service standards.

Do you count Saturdays?

You can toggle Saturdays on/off. Sundays and US federal holidays are always excluded.

What about Priority Mail Express guarantees?

USPS may offer a limited money‑back guarantee for many destinations. Other classes are not guaranteed.

Can I enter ZIP+4?

Yes. We’ll sanitize to digits and use the first 5.

Why can long‑distance routes take longer?

National routes and AK/HI/PR often have longer transit variability, so we add a small buffer to the range.

Methodology & limitations

  • Service standards — fixed business‑day ranges per class, then adjusted by zone type (local/regional/national).
  • Offshore heuristic — adds a day on AK/HI/PR (except Express).
  • Start logic — after cutoff or non‑business day → next business day.
  • Holidays — US federal holidays (observed) are skipped.
  • Not guarantees — weather, volume, operational issues can change outcomes.
